From The Publisher*SG
From The Publisher*From Ant (Gligoetjit) to Wolf (Paqtism) and beyond, the Mi'kmaq Alphabet book is sure to delight the young and the young at heart. Braelyn Cyr's vibrant illustrations are a delightful pair to Shyla Augustine's first baby board book.
From The Publisher*Shyla Augustine is from Elsipogtog First Nation and is currently attending St. Thomas University's Bachelor of Education Program, after completing her Bachelor of Arts in English Literature and Native Studies. Having family in both Nova Scotia and New Brunswick communities, she has chosen a traditional language style which includes a blend of regional spelling and choice of words. Inspired by the curiosity from her children, and those at the UNB Children's Centre where she volunteered, paired with their thirst for story-based knowledge of Indigenous culture, Shyla has committed to apply the Mi'kmaq knowledge she has and is learning to give back to her community and future generations. Wela'lin!
