VQA Beamsville Bench 14% alc./vol. / 750ml Cabernet Sauvignon is one of the hardest grapes to fully ripen in Niagara. However, the extremely hot and dry summer of 2016 proved it possible. The nose is full of very ripe black currant, vanilla, tobacco leaf, clove and spice. The palate is plush with nice grip from the fine-grained tannins. This youthful wine has a very long finish, and a very long life ahead. Although enjoyable now with protein (think grilled rib eye or braised short ribs), the 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon has the potential to age well into the 2030s.
