From The Booth

Nick Broomfield is known for the dozens of documentary profiles he has made, ranging from Margaret Thatcher to Courtney and Kurt, Whitney Houston and Biggie and Tupac. But this film originates with his brief romantic affair with Marianne Ihlen on the Greek island of Hydra, which is where Leonard Cohen met this same muse. Through archival footage and telling interviews, Broomfield takes us to the early-mid sixties and the heady days of artistic and sexual freedom. A freedom that followed the womanizing poet and singer throughout his career as observed in the film by his friends and former lovers. It’s time to say So Long Marianne, Hello Goodbye Leonard. Recommended.
