From The Booth
Canadian critics have heaped high praise on Jasmin Mozaffari’s debut film about two young women trying to escape their dreary small town existence. Lou and Chantal suffer the outrageous slings and arrows of their unfortunate home lives while continually self-sabotaging their exit strategies. As the Globe and Mail’s Barry Hertz raved, “Firecrackers is not a passive work of slow-burn pondering...It is confident, loud, urgent. It will leave you cut and bruised, and all for the better”. Ms Mozaffari was awarded Best Director honours at the 2019 Canadian Screen Awards. Congratulations!
