From The Booth
Word on the street is Spike Lee has rekindled his filmmaking mojo with this retelling of Ron Stallworth’s memoir. Ron (played Denzel’s son, John David Washington) was the first African-American cop in Colorada Springs who, with the help of his partner, Flip Zimmerman (Adam Driver), managed to infiltrate and frustrate Colorada’s burgeoning KKK presence. Given the current state of government-condoned racial hatred in America, it is no wonder Mr Lee chose to tell a story that bridges the America of the 1970s and the America of 2018. With great performances all around, a strong element of suspense and wryly satiric jabs at those who hate, Spike Lee’s latest is Highly Recommended.
