From The Booth

Dheepan shines a dramatic light on the international refugee crises. It begins in a refugee camp in Sri Lanka, where a man and woman pretend to be the parents of a young orphaned girl to gain access to France. Once there, the three strangers must learn to live together in their cramped urban quarters while pretending to be a family. From the director of Rust and Bone and A Prophet, Dheepan won the Palme D’or at the 2015 Cannes Fest. Even though the third act dabbles with some Hollywood-style action, Dheepan is highly recommended for its sensitive portrayals, contemporary social commentary and first-rate dramatic storytelling. In Tamil, French and English with subtitles.
