Kazoo! #289: Fet. Nat / Animatists

Kazoo! #289 - Friday March 1st

FET.NAT @fetnatmusic

Animatist @animatistmusic

 All Ages / LIC - Doors 9:30pm - $10

Animatist hit the stage at 10pm sharp and this show will be over before midnight.

From midnight onwards our friends DJ Sensi Boy & Noah23 will be hosting Hip Hop / Goth Trap Night.

Hull, Quebec weirdos pump out the angular no wave jams to celebrate their new 12" on Boiled Records. Demonic vocals beathe over tight rhythms, locked in guitar grooves and spaced out sax squeals. Pulling percussive tendencies out of some Warp meets 99 Record vortex, Fet.Nat bounces from abrasive textures to beat driven gestations. Samples & electronics play with errant saxophone howls. Fet.Nat defies categorization. Is it post-punk? Is it free jazz? Is it dance music? Is it art rock? All we know is that it rules, and their explosive live show continues to be one of the best we have ever seen.

Animatist //
Bringing together equal parts prog, jazz, and post-rock, Animatist are a rhymically driven and textured cacophony. Led by guitarist and songwriter Brent O’Toole, the group plays rhythmically deft compositions that evoke Battles and Tortoise. Rhythm section Steve Cook (bass) and Ian Hinds (percussion, drums) are the engine-house that power tunes that segue from delicate to propulsive. Saxophonist and moog player Danielle Fernandes bolsters the group with imaginative and animated improvisations. This 4-piece Post-Rock Sovereign Nation/Cult are ready to destroy faces with supersonic vibrations and math homework.
