This slim but tender and wondrous book of poetry is Wilbur's first in a decade. He is over ninety and has won two Pulitzers. This alone is worth the investigation. Some of the poems are new, others are translations of classical writers such as Horace and Mallarme. Still others reflect the produndity of the Psalms and Ecclesiastes. These are our anterooms and each one beats with such beauty that I felt as if I were in some kind of holy place while reading. Wilbur has given a gift. I can only reply Thank You.
