Help us say farewell to:
As we welcome this new exhibit:
ART@ebar hopes you don't mind being stared at... and welcomes you to come gaze back at a wide variety of self portrait explorations by Guelph and area artists. From pencil sketches to digital photographs, childlike wonder to the weight of decades lived, musings on day-to-day existence to dreams of past lives, and beyond.
Wikipedia says that, “A self-portrait is a representation of an artist that is drawn, painted, photographed, or sculpted by that artist.”.
The National Portrait Gallery asks, “Why make a self-portrait?” and answers:“Analysis: A self-portrait is an exploration of your face, body and personality.
Authorship: A self-portrait is an historical record of the person that made it, left behind for posterity.
Autobiography: A self-portrait can be a visual journal documenting something that is happening or has happened in your life.”
As any artist knows when creating a self portrait…
“It’s All About ME!”.
Show opens THURSDAY, January 24th, 8-10pm and runs until Saturday April 6th 2019.
Please contact ART@ebar curator Eric Allen Montgomery <firstname.lastname@example.org> for further information regarding this show and upcoming themes.
