Gillian Stevens recently “graduated” from her job as a secondary school guidance counselor, where she empowered at-risk youth to overcome barriers leading to graduation. She is now pursuing her dream of helping others in support professions.
Gillian believes the rising incidence of addiction, mental health concerns, suicide, PTSD and chronic disease suggests that we are being called to “do it differently,” to affect a much needed shift in the health of our society. She is passionate about the necessity of prioritizing our well-being, and that there is a need for physical and emotional support and professional development that is current, relevant and practical for those that help. She hopes it will become accepted practice to value our own wants and needs as much as we value those we help so that we all live the flourishing life we deserve.
The message of Explore, Transform, Flourish is that we are not alone; together we can create a healthier, happier world by focusing on our own lives first then encouraging others to do the same. Her book includes stories from her life and many other helpers with resources and strategies providing inspiration and support. In both her book and in speaking presentations, Gillian advocates for education around grief, trauma, addiction and mental health for all of us so that we might work more compassionately and efficiently.
