The Case of the Missing Auntie

By Michael Hutchinson

In the store

A really interesting read! The Mighty Muskrats - Atim, Sam, Otter and Chickadee - are having lots of fun at the exhibition fair until Chickadee discovers a disturbing family secret: her grandpa’s missing little sister was adopted by strangers without her parents' permission. The Mighty Muskrats need to solve the mystery of Auntie's disappearance! I would rate this book a ⅘. - Gwen, 11

Donut Feed the Squirrels

By Mika Song

In the store

A funny and beautifully illustrated graphic novel about two squirrels that go on a massive adventure for some donuts. There are explosions of frosting, roller skates and lots and lots of donuts! My favourite part was when the squirrels were doing a funny chant because their dance was hilarious. A great book for kids new to chapter books - 4 out of 5 stars. - Lily, 8

Samantha loves journalling, but her mom wants her to try something different: writing to her future self about a trip she and her Grandma are embarking on. Samantha is worried that her grandma will still be the boring person she was before she moved to Florida, but no - her grandma is now a fun loving, awesome person! Their trip around Florida has its ups and downs, but Samantha now loves her grandma more than ever. My favourite part was when Samantha and her Grandma barely avoided a crocodile attack! I think kids aged 10-14 would like this book - it's really funny and I rate it 5/5! - Maggie, 11

At the end of the book, I still wanted to know what happened next! Kids 10-14 would enjoy this book - I rate it 4/5. - Rebecca

Renegades

This book is a futuristic sci-fi adventure about a group of kids who are trying to stop an evil group from taking over parts of the Galaxy.

Some of the characters are very responsible and good leaders. Zeke is the main character who often gives instructions to his friends. I think kids aged 10-13 would like this book especially any kid who is interested in science fiction, like Star Wars.

I did struggle to get into the book at first because I hadn’t read the first two books in the series and I felt like the book jumped around a lot at the beginning. But once the main characters created a new plan to defeat the Phands, it got more interesting for me. I really liked the action in the book and the different personalities of the characters. The author did a great job of describing the characters so I could imagine what they looked like. I would rate this book 7/10.
